Description of Formula
HISTORY
Dandelion leaf supports the healthy functioning of the urinary system. Moreover, this valuable herb supports and maintains normal potassium levels, particularly during periods of increased urinary flow.*
The first recorded use of dandelion for its health promoting and nutritive properties comes from Arabian physicians and the Arabian School of Medicine and Pharmacy in the 10th and 11th centuries. Since then, this herb has been widely used and praised for its nutritive actions and pharmacological constituents.*
DANDELION LEAF AND THE URINARY SYSTEM
A unique feature of dandelion leaf is that it stimulates urinary flow and balances fluid levels. More impressive, it does so while also maintaining the body's supply of essential electrolytes, like potassium and magnesium. Oftentimes products that cause an increase in urine flow also deplete the body of these valuable electrolytes, disrupting cellular homeostasis. Dandelion helps to maintain a healthy urinary system while encouraging electrolyte balance and supporting healthy fluid levels.*
DANDELION LEAF AND THE HEART
Dandelion leaf has a similar mechanism of action to some products that remove water from the body, by effectively increasing urinary outflow and maintaining healthy fluid levels. However, it does so without leaching potassium or magnesium from the body, which is essential for healthy heart function.*
Dandelion leaf increases urinary output and helps to maintain healthy fluid levels while protecting electrolyte balance and maintaining potassium and magnesium levels - actions that are vital to the functioning of a strong heart and healthy cardiovascular system.*
DANDELION NUTRIENTS AND PHYTOCHEMICALS
In addition to potassium and magnesium, the vitamin and mineral-rich dandelion leaf contains particularly high levels of vitamin A. In fact, gram for gram, dandelion contains more vitamin A then carrots! Dandelion leaf also contains calcium, silicon, phosphorous, iron, vitamin C, the B vitamin complex, chlorophyll, essential amino acids, and more.*
As well, dandelion leaf contains appreciable amounts of polysaccharides, terpenoid and sterol compounds, along with flavonoids, pectin, resin, mucilage and furan fatty acids that work collectively to optimize the functioning of the urinary system, and maintain healthy fluid levels to support a strong heart and healthy cardiovascular system.*
